Hammer Mill is used to shred biomass, forest and horticultural residues. Biomass is chopped by medium speed heavy swing hammer mill into granular size; it is then passed through a screening area. Hammer Mills can be placed on anti-vibration mounting in order to ensure vibration less operation as well as structural safety of building. Power to the mill is provided with the help of directly coupled TEFC motor. Moreover, the feeding screw comes among a frequency control device that controls input feed.
Material is fed in to the hammer mill grinder through a Feeding Conveyor. It has a wide opening mouth which is specially designed for safe feeding. The Swinging Hammer Mill forces material onto the stationary grinding bars. Material can be shredded to a desired size by having air-gap between swinging hammer & grinding bars.
The mill is ideal for grinding residues and biomass waste like ground nut shells, rice husk, cotton shell/ stalks, wood chips, mustard husk/ stalk, bagasse, sugar cane trash, etc. with max. moisture content 25% and max. size 50mm length & 20 mm dia.
If any biomass is not granular/ free flowing, the hammer mill grinder is used to make it powdery & free flowing. This further increases its bulk density, improving the production rate of briquetting press. Pneumatic handling is often used to aid the process.
If the moisture content in material exceeds 15 or 20%, it should be dried up in sun or through thermal dryer to bring down the moisture level within limit.
